Harvesting sun power for clean air

Before the dramatic effects of climate change became apparent, solar energy was a kind of environmental novelty that the rich could use to reduce their carbon footprint. Today, mankind is faced with global warming more dramatic than the most cynical climate scientists ever predicted. Mankind is faced with some obvious choices. We can adopt solar and wind power now or face even more dire consequences very rapidly.

One of the great advantages of solar energy is that it results in very few emissions. An analysis by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) found that solar adoption would substantially diminish nitrous oxides, sulfur dioxide, and particulate matter discharges, all of which can cause a multitude of health problems.
The NREL study also found that, among other medical benefits, solar power creates fewer instances of bronchitis, respiratory and cardiovascular issues, and lost work days due to other effects of dirty air.

Environmental benefits of solar are massive

Lawmakers need to understand how solar power benefits the environment and they cannot allow their fossil fuel loving lobbyists to persuade them gas and coal are good for us. The sun gives a limitless supply of energy at a time in human history when we must choose how we are going to power the next generations. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, a questionable organization at best, states that the average household transmits around 20 metric huge amounts of carbon pollution every year. By installing a solar power system, a normal two-person household reduces their carbon outflows by three to four tons yearly.
Because buildings contribute 39% of all carbon emissions in the United States, installing solar declines these impacts. While every home, and business that embraces solar power makes a dent in our pollution levels, the cumulative impact of property owners installing solar is the action that has an enduring effect.

Your wallet benefits from solar too

The financial advantages of installing solar can be significant as prices for solar panels continue to dip. Many solar customers gather more electricity from their panels than they can use and sell the excess back to the utility company or share with neighbors. The power that solar creates is totally discharge free. When we use renewable solar energy to meet our energy needs, we decrease the use of “dirty energy”  from our utility. Thus, our utility plant radiates less carbon while creating the energy expected to take care of consumer demand.
Many utilities are still dependent on fossil fuels like coal and natural gas. We all have to decide what steps to take to reduce our carbon footprint and the effect of your decision to go solar could be important for the environment. The advantages of solar energy are clear. We save money on our electric bills and we make the world a healthier place to live.

There has never been a better time to install a solar energy system!
